DeSagana Diop – Keeping the Mavericks Centered

Desagana Diop

DeSagana Diop is a Senegalese player on the Dallas Mavericks team. His career began in high school when he led the Oak Hill Academy to the number one nation ranking and earned the USA Today Virginia Player of the Year title. He was drafted by the Cleveland Cavaliers directly out of high school and but was unable to meet their expectations, due to several injuries.

In 2005 the Dallas Mavericks signed him on as a free agent and he was instrumental in getting them to the Western Conference Championships. In April 2007 he recorded his first double-double with a season high of 10 points and 15 rebounds in the game against the Minnesota Timberwolves. He speaks five languages (Arabic, English, French, Wolof, and some Spanish) You can learn more about him on his web page.
