Fabrice Muamba’s fiance, Shauna Magunda, posted a picture on Twitter showing him sitting up in his hospital bed, smiling.

Muamba collapsed during an FA Cup match on March 17, 2012. His heart did not start beating on its own for 78 minutes until he got to the hospital, and the medical team at the stadium are credited with saving his life. His collapse prompted FIFA to call for more research on heart conditions in athletes.
Shauna Magunda wrote, ‘Fab wanted me to post this pic for you all and to also say thank you for such overwhelming support.’
Luol Deng, a forward for the Chicago Bulls basketball team, invited Muamba to come watch him play for Team GB for London 2012. He also encouraged the English Premier League to learn how the NBA monitors and screens players for heart conditions.
In an interview in The Sun, he said “The NBA has this technology where you wear a wireless heart monitor during training.
“You can monitor everything, see any defect. It’s my understanding some defects only come to light when you work the body hard. This is life-saving equipment.”
