Jordan Sparks sings National Anthem at SuperBowl XLVII
What a game it was. The Giants came in as the underdogs with something to prove, and the Patriots came in with a record to make. Both had more to win than just the Superbowl championship. The Giants are a wildcard team that barely made it into the finals, and the Patriots were the undefeated team who would have made history if they went undefeated with a 19-0 record. It promised to be exciting and they didn’t let us down!
Eli Manning came out swinging. He threw with a confidence that has been evident in his last few games and showed us some great quaterback moves. The most memorable will probably be the throw he made was while he was caught in a scrum and, with several players hanging on, managed to break free and make the throw. Even I, a certified Eli Manning skeptic, was extremely impressed. That was great football at its best.

The Patriots couldn’t seem to get it together. Brady was sacked more times than a field of Idaho potatoes, and the frustration showed. Umenyiora, Strahan, and the rest of the Giants defensive team were really effective at shutting down the Patriots and keeping Moss locked down. The fourth quarter seemed to be where the Patriots showed up to the game. They took chances and played hard, but in the end, it was the Giants who played better football.
I can’t be too mad at the result. Two Africans (Osi Umenyiora and Jabril Wilson) ended up with Superbowl rings. All is good in my world.
