Kenyan Soccer Gets Shot in Arm

Kenyan Football Federation

The first Kenyan Premiere League matches were broadcast live across the continent thanks to Supersport International. The matches were broadcast live on April 6-7 and allowed the players to up their game.

This is great news for a country who’s game has been limping along dealing with mismanaged funds, idiotic shenanigans, and the loss of key sponsors. It will allow the players to showcase their skills to a broader audience, bring in new fans, and increase the amount of money that may start to come in once sponsors realize the reach they could have.

The players are excited that they will get a chance to show off to a larger audience and that is sure to improve the game. Maybe now Africans will watch more than just the European leagues.

Supersport intends to broadcast over 100 matches lives in the next four years after winning exclusive broadcasting rights for the competition when they signed a Ksh390 million ($6.19 million) deal with the Kenya Premier League company. Other African countries that are broadcast on Supersport include Nigeria, South Africa, and Angola.
