As the games continue, the tally of medals continues to grow. Here is a rundown of the medals that African countries have won:

Chad le Clos celebrates his win
South Africa – 2 Gold
Egypt – 1 Silver
Chad le Clos won South Africa a gold medal in the 200M Butterfly swimming event with a time of 1:52:96 setting a new African record and beating his idol, Michael Phelps.
Cameron van der Burgh set a new world record with his win in the 100M Breaststroke swimming event with a time of 58.46. This earned him, and South Africa, a gold medal.
Alaaeldin Abouelkassem won Egypt a silver medal in the men’s individual foil fencing.
