London Olympics 2012: Kenyan Dunford makes semi-finals and South Africa wins gold in rowing

Jason Dunford is probably most famous for being the Kenyan that beat Michael Phelps in 2008 (albeit briefly) and putting Kenya on the map.  Phelps came back to win it but we remembered Dunford.

South African Rowing Team

This year he qualified for the 100m Butterfly semi-finals with a time of 52.23.  He will be up against heavy weight Chad le Clos from South Africa (51.54) in his particular heat.   This promises to be an exciting race!

South Africa won gold in the men’s Lightweight Four in rowing, in a stunning and exciting race against top contender, Britain.  Britain took the silver in a very close contest between them and bronze winners, Denmark.  The South African team members were James Thompson, Matthew Brittain, John Smith and Sizwe Ndlovu.
