Osi Umenyiora | New York Giants #72 | Defensive End
Drafted in the second round of the 2003 NFL draft by the New York Giants, he has already started to make his mark as a player to be recognized (of feared if you are the opposing team). He was born in London to Nigerian parents and lived in Nigeria for a little while before moving to Alabama where he joined the football team. His final year at Troy State University, he was second in the nation with 16 sacks.
In his NFL career he was considered a premier pass rusher in 2005; he started all 16 games his rookie year and recorded 70 tackles and 14.5 sacks to put him second in the league in sacks. In the Pro Bowl, he and Michael Strahan collected a total of 26 sacks to become the top NFL team in the Bowl (they are considered to be the best defensive end rushing duo in the NFL).
So far in 2007, he has scored a record six sacks against the Philadelphia Eagles, and a sack, forced fumble, fumble recovery, and return for a touchdown in one game against the San Francisco 49ers. He is a formidable defensive end with an impressive career record that is still forming as the games continue.
