Uganda has been quietly representing Africa with style and elegance, winning the hearts of the crowd, and showcasing a true African spirit of sportsmanship.

The Ugandan team played against Panama in the Little League Word Series (LLWS) this evening, and though they did not win, they played with heart. They are the only African team to make it to the league, and have shown that there is indeed baseball talent to be found in Africa.
Several players have already made a name for themselves, including Daniel Alio, who hit a home run in the 6th inning and ran to the home plate to raucous cheers. Ronald Olaa is considered the king of ping pong in the league’s dorm rooms. And the entire team is a favorite overall amongst the other players.
This team is the first team to make it to the LLWS finals in 66 years–no small achievement. The score today might have been Paraguay 9 – Uganda 3, but the ultimate prize was the goodwill and exposure that the children received!
Congratulations Uganda. We look forward to seeing what you do next time.
