David Nso Puts Medicine on Hold for Modeling Career

david

Jamati: Hello David we are just so excited that you granted this exclusive interview to Jamati Online.

Thank you, I’m delighted to be featured in this edition.

Jamati: I understand that you recently started modeling. Can you share with us how that came about?

In Cameroon my friends referred to me as the young Tyson Beckford. I was always keen to Fashion, but I had to concentrate on my books because I came from a well-structured family that believed in education first before anything else. While growing up, at attendance of many parties and gatherings, I was always urged by friends and strangers alike to really pursue modeling so I promised myself that when I came to the U.S, modeling will be at the top of the list of things I would do for myself. Here I am doing what I promised myself and I love it!

Jamati: You were studying to be a doctor, how has modeling changed all of that?

These two professions don’t have any similarities right? (laughing) It’s all about what you believe in deep down in your heart. I had ample time to reflect on my options and I’m happy I made this decision. I had to put my books on hold for sometime. I always devote my time and effort 100% on every little thing I do and it doesn’t stop at fashion and modeling.

david

Jamati: You recently left the Washington DC area to pursue your career in New York. How has that transition worked out?

The transition is working out well. I have already met some great people in the fashion industry. I have to admit to this, there’s a lot of competition in this business, so you have to have thick skin in this industry, trust me. I’ve learned tremendously already from the short time I’ve been in New York. The industry is a different type of obstacle in and of itself but you always have to believe in yourself. Hard work and opportunity equates to good luck.

Jamati: Have you landed a modeling contract yet?

I have a lot of options on the table right now, but I just have to take my time and choose the right one. There are a lot of scams out there when it comes to signing contracts under agencies. I also have an agency in DC but I’m not locked down to any contract as we speak, but maybe in the near future I might see something beneficial to me.

Jamati: Have you done any recent runway shows?

Recently, I had a runway show in Manhattan with an upcoming designer and also did a runway show with Nordstrom (Men’s fall collection for 2007).

Jamati: What are the general ups and downs of modeling? How has modeling changed your life?

It’s really difficult sometimes. Not every talent agent, modeling agency or a scout will like your looks sometimes. At times they are searching for a specific look for a campaign or a show and you might not make the cut, not because your look isn’t fierce but they are looking for something particular at that time. So you have to stay optimistic and keep on going until you find what you are looking for. The positive side of it is doing something you love and bringing fashion to life. You meet a plethora of interesting people in the industry.

Jamati Do you feel that the world of modeling and fashion has changed who you are as a person?

Definitely, yes. My outlook on life has changed tremendously. I have developed great values from it.

Jamati: What designers do you desire to work with?

I have many on my list but would name Ozwald Boateng (he’s a genius! It would be a dream to work with him), Ralph Lauren, Zegna and many others.

david

Jamati: Is there a particular female model that you would love to work with?

I really want to work with Alek Wek. She is amazing at captivating the camera. But I’m also open to working with beautiful models worldwide.

Jamati: Do you find yourself being compared to other models?

The majority response for my look is usually “unique” though a few times I’ve been compared with Tyson Beckford. Though I personally don’t believe we resemble, he’s the first black male supermodel in history and it’s flattering to even be compared to him. (laughing) I won’t lie to you, it feels good sometimes to be compared to Tyson Beckford.

Jamati: You mentioned that you wanted to act. Have you booked any roles yet?

I maintain a role as an officer in the HBO original series The Wire. It was a dream come true and I had a lot of fun with the other actors. Subsequently, I moved to New York to pursue acting as well as modeling. I’m on the right track when it comes to that. I have auditioned for a lot of roles in different movies and am just waiting for that ultimate role.

Jamati: What does the future hold for David Nso?

Wow, that’s a great question. I put it all in God’s hands. I continue to perfect my craft as I strive to become a distinguished actor and a supermodel in the near future.

Hi Jenny, take personal stuff out of the public. Every woman might have gotten hurt in one way or the other. it is not the worlds business. Get alife. it does not pay to be a hater or to be a bad mouth.
I know David personally and he is too focused for his own good. He is very humble and has a great heart. His personality reflects throughout his interview
Do not hate on the Cameroonian brother. He is a role model.
David do not get discouraged. that comes with the industry. stay focused and God will show you through.

Bea i think yhou need to check what the word ‘humble’ means cause david’s name and ‘humble’ should never be used in the same sentence… i believe people deserve to know the truth…unfotunately this is the truth about david whether you like it or not…

    Cameroonian brother doing his thing.
How can you be so evil? If u spend somuch time being after this dude u will not have time to work hard to make urself a better person so gurl get over it.life is too short for this.

Wow!!! Jenny you sound like a giant ballon of hate that needs a needle. You must have done something to deserve this guy to treat you they way you “assume” he did which looking at him, I’m not so sure of your story.
I dont even know this guy but you have just made me his fan. I will keep looking out to see him at the top. I hope you step down your hate ladder and start planning a future for yourself. OMG!! are you for real. People like you with such hate should be kept in a private prison confinement. You might contaminate innocent minds.
BTW, its ok to be broke. He does not look hungry to me. thats a drive to work hard to reach your goals.
Jesus!!! get a life or go volunteer somewhere (not where people are) Maybe to dig some roads so David can drive through or split rocks or something. Just get a freaking life. It starts with asking God to forgive you and ask Him to help you find yourself and find a life through Jesus. He really helps the broken hearted and YES even you. We have all been there but we chose to live above our pain and be more compassionate. Dont invest your energy on hating people and bringing them down. Invest it in building people and growing yourself, you will find better fulfilment that even a heartbreak like this will not destroy you.
I will start by praying for you.

I’m there is a good in you a good in you. Find it and build it.
    Love from above.
