FABRYAN designs from the onset show a mark of luxury. These designs, executed to perfection, have grown to excite the London fashion scene, appearing in the London Fashion Week twice. Jamati got an exclusive interview from Benin-born, Samantha-Jane, the name behind the luxury designs, to find otu what exactly makes Fabryan stand out.
Jamati: Who is Samantha-Jane?
Fabryan: I am a 27 year-old mother. I am a London-based London Fashion designer and owner of Fabryan. I enjoy cooking, skiing, film, traveling, and arts.
Jamati: Where did you grow up?
Fabryan: I was born in Benin but moved to London when I was 12.
Jamati: When did you discover your passion for fashion design?
Fabryan: I guess it was from an early age when I used to watch my mother sew and I would take scraps of materials to make dresses for my dolls.
Jamati: Please tell us a little bit more about your brand, Fabryan?
Fabryan: FABRYAN (fa-bri-an) is anything but ordinary. Born not only out of a love for all things fashion, but an appreciation for unique, feminine and alluring designs, creating a distinctive quintessential feminine signature, fused with rich prints and ornately embellished pieces, perfect for a smooth day to evening transition for the modern woman. This defines FABRYAN.
Jamati: What is the inspiration behind Fabryan?
Fabryan: Fabryan is inspired by glamor, luxury and nature. Generally the things in our beautiful world and its surroundings
Jamati: What can you say is the one thing that distinguishes Fabryan Designs from all other designs out there in the market?
Fabryan: We are a breath of fresh air to the industry, we really put the woman at the center of our brand and celebrate her in every sense of the word. We are creating clothing that is wearable and, at the same time, unique.
Jamati: What collections do you have out for 2011?
Fabryan: Our SS12 collection is out in September as we celebrate our 1st year anniversary.
Jamati: How has the reception being for your collection?
Fabryan: We are delighted that our collection has been well received. There is always room for improvement so we will continue to produce stronger collections as we grow.
Jamati: You have featured in the London and Oxford fashion week, what was the experience like?
Fabryan: We have featured in London Fashion Week twice now, and the experience is always exciting, and a very good opportunity to show the brand. Oxford Fashion Week was also a very refreshing experience and we look forward to showing in both shows in the future.
Jamati: What have been the challenges in building your brand?
Fabryan: We pride ourselves in being a luxury brand, we never compromise on anything Fabryan, This requires a lot of money which could sometimes pose a challenge for a new brand such as ourselves.
