Kirette Couture to host charity show in New York.

Kirette Couture, a clothing line by Cameroonian designers Anrette Ngafor and Kibonen Nfi  will be showcasing their outfits, including the summer 2009 collection on  Wednesday June 3rd.

Kirette Couture

According to the duo, Kirette is mainly inspired by the “toghu” (also known as the Bamenda gown) – a colorful and intricately embroidered fabric typically worn, on special occasions, by the people of the North West and Western provinces in Cameroon.

Although the “toghu” cloth is KiRette Couture’s signature fabric, designs will not be limited to it. In a true edgy and funky style, this one-of-a kind label aims to create a new fashion language which transcends racial and cultural borders by exploring, experimenting with and fusing various textiles. The fashion show ,titled  Threads for a cause: A Fashion show benefiting gems will be held at the Boucarou Lounge on 64 east 1st street in New York city from 6pm to 9pm. The charity that will benefit from the show is GEMS and tickets ranging in price from $25 to$100 can be obtained by ordering from here.

The show is a must see for anyone in New York who loves African style and fashion and Jamati.com will be there to provide you with pictures, video and interviews with the two ladies. Stay tuned!
