Eunice Eunekie Cofie, Ms. Black Florida, will be represented Florida in the Ms. Black USA Pageant in June 2008. Although she didn’t win, she made an impact with her wit, charm, and intelligence.
At the ripe age of 27, she is already the President, CEO, and Chief Cosmetic Chemist of Nuekie, Inc. – an African inspired cosmetic company, is the Assistant Coordinator for the Institute for African American Health’s Project H.E.A.L.T.H. (Health Education and Life Transforming Habits) pilot study on preventing childhood obesity and diabetes, works with the FAMU Black Infant Health Alliance, and is the author of a forthcoming book on the HIV/AIDS epidemic in Africa. And that’s just the short list of her accomplishments.
Her current platform as Miss Black Florida is Preventing Childhood Obesity and Diabetes through Education and Life Transforming Habits where she will tackle the challenges of helping children develop healthy lifestyles to keep obesity at bay. When not volunteering in the US, she gives back to Ghana through volunteer work. While in Ada, Ghana, volunteering with the Her initiative, Touch A Thousand Children, provides school supplies and clothes for children in Ada, Ghana.
A graduate of Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University (FAMU) with a Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry/molecular biology, she has used her education to develop beauty products under her company, Nuekie. Nuekie specializes in a line of products formulated with African botanicals to treat the special needs of people of African descent. The decision to do so was, in part, based on the challenges that she found when dealing with her own skin needs.
