Ubah Hassan – Vogue Italia Got It Right
Ubah Hassan, a Somalian model, was chosen to be part of the historic issue of Vogue Italia which featured some of the hottest names in the model world. She held her own among famous names like Alek Wek and Liya Kebede, and proved she has what it takes to be a model icon.
She signed with Click Management Agency in New York in 2007 and was the model of the week on Models.com in May of 2008. In July of 2008 she was one of the models in the black issue of Vogue Italia (not bad for a newcomer). She closed Ralph Lauren’s spring show in New York and is now part of a Ralph Lauren ad campaign. Busy lady, and we can see why!

Hi Ubah babyI hope you remember me. I am the photgrapher who started your career after our impromtu photo shoot in Minoru Park in Ricmnond, British Columbia where your aunty and you lived. I just wanted to say hi and say how incredibly proud I am to have been the starting point of your fabulous career. It is hard to believe you were just 14 turning 15 when I met you your first weekend in British Columbia after moving from your Dads place in Toronto. My wife Patricia and my daughters Ashley and Chelsea and sons Jordan and little Conner who was a baby when you left. Do remember going down to Vancouvers John Casablanca’s to show off our photo shoot. They loved them and asked if they could shop them around to see the response. Trish’s eyes nearly popped out of her head the first time you walked in the front door of the agency that day. I will never forget the faces of the other want to be models waiting to be seen. You could have heard a pin drop when the cast their eyes upon you. Probably the same way I looked upon you that fatefull Sunday on General Currie Road. Wow I said to myself that girl has got it all and somebody has got to see her and represent her and quick. Was I right or what? I have always been told I should be a scout and that I have a great eye. You are proof of that. Anyhow I hope this gits forwarded to you somehow and we can catch up.
