Alpha Blondy Moves Summerstage

A sea of energetic fans from all over the world welcomed Alpha Blondy, known as the “African Bob Marley” to New York City’s Central Park Summerstage on Sunday, July 19th.  The opening acts included performances by Lee “Scratch” Perry, identified as the “father” of reggae and Dubblestandart Sound System. The Ivorian reggae artist branded for his activism ignited this eclectic audience with his strong political lyrics that convey global peace and unity.

Lion on the Leash

Kae Sun continues to be one of the most conscious lyricists in today’s popcorn generation of musicians. His music and poetry is inspired by life and filled with the realities of today’s world. He recently made a lo-fi recording of a song on his upcoming record “Lion On A Leash“. The video has been receiving a lot of attention online because of its lyrical content. The video was featured on MySpace for a while and it received very positive responses.

It hasn’t even been a year since Lucky Dube’s tragic death and still his fans, family and friends in the music industry mourns he’s passing . I must say it was an emotional moment at the International Reggae And World Music Awards (IRAWMA) which was held at Harlem’s Legendary Apollo Theatre, 4 May 2008.
