Okocha to Leave Hull City
Former BBC African Footballer of the Year, Austin “Jay-Jay” Okocha, is set to be released by English Premier League newcomers, Hull City, this summer after an injury ravaged season. The former Nigeria captain who scored the 1,000th goal in African Nations Cup history at Tunisia 2004 is thought to be contemplating retirement.
The only active member of the Super Eagles team that took the world by storm at USA ’94, Okocha is the sole Nigerian player to have played at three FIFA World Cup finals–1994, 1998 (where he was named in the FIFA team of the tournament), and 2002.
