When the promos for the Zain 026 experience started running, it was clear that the concert would be the biggest outdoor event Ghana had seen in a long time. With international artists like Wyclef, Eve, and Mario headlining; and supported by 2face Idibia, Obrafour, Tinny, and Kwaw Kesse, nothing could go wrong. Well, almost nothing could go wrong.

Kwaw Kesse to collaborate with Wyclef?
The outspoken and highly unpredictable self proclaimed ‘King of the Streets’, Kwaw Kesse has challenged hip-hop superstar Wyclef Jean who is currently in Ghana for the ‘Zain 026 Experience’ concert, to collaborate with him on a track before leaving. Kwaw Kesse threw this open invitation to Wyclef in the full glare of Ghanaian and international media during a press conference ahead of the concert.
Wyclef and Eve promise to thrill Ghanaians Fans
US based Haitian hip-hop superstar Wyclef Jean and top female rapper Eve have both promised Ghanaians of an amazing performances during the highly anticipated ‘Zain 026 Experience’ concert on Saturday November 22, at the Ohene Djan Stadium in Accra.

The Game to headline the MAMAs
Its official! Multi-platinum US rapper, The Game is to headline the debut edition of the MTV Africa Music Awards with Zain (MAMA) on 22 November 2008. The West Coast rapper, who is also nominated in the Best Hip Hop category at the awards, will perform live in Nigeria for the first time, joining Nigeria’s D’Banj, Tanzanian hip hop sensation Professor Jay, and Ghanaian hip life star, Kwaw Kese, on stage at The Velodrome, Abuja for Africa’s most spectacular celebration of contemporary music.

MTV unites Africa with Making the Video
Kwaw Kesse ruled Ghana’s hip-hop scene in the past year and he hopes to extend his reign to the rest of Africa. Well, with the assistance of MTV Base, his dream may soon become a reality as he just got the chance to collaborate with Tanzania’s hip-hop superstar, Professor J.
The MTV ‘Making the Video Challenge’ with Shell team is currently in Accra to shoot a video for the remix to Kwaw Kesse’s ‘Who Be You’ featuring Professor J. The video will be shot by a team of Ghanaian directors under the mentorship of veteran director, Anthony Mandler. Mandler has worked with the likes of Beyonce, Ne-Yo, Omarion, Rihanna, and One Republic. The music video will be premiered on Saturday, September 27, at the Aphrodisiac Nite Club in Ghana and, subsequently, on MTV Base and its affiliate TV stations across Africa. » Read more…

Kwaw Kesse Disses Art Critics Award
The Arts Critics and Reviewers Association of Ghana (ACRAG) on Ghana’s Republic Day, July 1, held its 20th edition of the AGRAG Awards after a long hiatus. The awards are meant to acknowledge excellence in Ghanaian creativity in the arts and culture. The association conferred its highest honour, the Flagstar, on internationally-acclaimed writer, university teacher and consultant on education and gender issues, Ama Ata Aidoo. » Read more…
A Glitzy Ghana Fashion Week
The fashion world turned its eyes on Ghana from June 27 to July, when Exopa Model Agency hosted its first ever Ghana Fashion Week. The glitz and glamour of high fashion came into full glare as several talented up-and-coming African fashion designers showcased their creativity and unique sense of fashion.
There were three separate fashion shows at various venues in Accra. These runway shows sparkled with style, elegance, and some eccentrics as world-class models from Exopa Model Agency showcased the amazing ready-to-wear couture from Ghanaian designers such as Ama-Nua Williams, Patrick of House Eccentric and Clara Lawson. Nigeria’s 2004 Fashion Designer of the year winner, Adebayo Adegbe of Modela Couture literally dazzled audiences with his uniquely golden collections. Ja Rule Who?
Kwaw Kesse, Ghana’s self proclaimed King of the Streets has described Ja Rule as a spent force with no relevance in today’s hip-hop world. “Ja Rule isn’t hot any more”, Kwaw Kesse said recently in a TV interview when he was asked about performing with Ja Rule. The two recently shared the stage at the Ghana Music Award beach party and even though Kwaw admitted that Ja Rule was able to excite the crowd, he still maintained that Ja Rule wasn’t hot. “Ghanaians are tired of Ja Rule”, he added.
‘Madman’ Sweeps Ghana Music Awards
Even tough Ghana’s young hip-hop genre popularly known as hip-life suffered a tumble in the past year, Kwaw Kesse was able to steal the big prize at the Ghana Music Awards by winning the award for Artist of the Year. Kwaw Kesse had been the most outstanding artist of the past year. His unique showmanship as a madman who can turn up on stage dressed as anything or anyone had fans screaming ‘Abodam’ (craziness) all over the country. Kwaw Kesse won four awards on the night but gospel music was the biggest winner with Album of the year going to Ohemaa Mercy and Song of the Year going to Lenny Apkadie.
