Big Brother Africa joins The Global Fund to fight Malaria in Africa
The hit television program “Big Brother Africa Revolution” and African private sector companies are supporting the Global Fund’s fight against malaria by contributing funds from a high-profile awareness-raising campaign, undertaken as part of the United Against Malaria campaign. The contributions are particularly significant, marking the first African private sector donations to the Global Fund.

MTV Base Takes on HIV/AIDS
MTV is taking in HIV/AIDS with a new project called Ignite. Ignite, falling under MTV’s award winning Staying Alive campaign, addresses sexual networks, multiple partners, drug use and living with HIV, within the context of national cultures and norms. The campaign is being held simultaneously in Kenya, Trinidad and Tobago, and the Ukraine and will kick off with television dramas. The Ignite Kenya campaign is the biggest of the three.

Today marks the launch of Africa’s new exciting television channel under the M-Net network, titled Vuzu TV. Vuzu TV comes into play after the announcement of the end of the GO channel, which for a long time was one of the most watched channels under the M-Net network.
The Patricia Show Launches campaign to alleviate Child Hunger
Patricia Amira, host of M-Net’s, The Patricia Show today launches a campaign to support the World Food Program’s (WFP) School Feeding Initiative. Millions of Children across Africa literally cannot go to school because of their inability to get a nutritious meal at lunchtime. For many this meal provides them with their only meal of the day. WFP indicates that urban and rural poor across Africa spend between 60% and 80% of their income on food, a situation exacerbated by current inflated global food prices.
Ricco wins Big Brother Africa
Angolan housemate Ricco Vernancio was declared winner of Big Brother Africa 3 after public voting across the continent. On Sunday November 23, amidst cheering fans and glittering confetti in an electric atmosphere, M-Net’s Big Brother Africa 3 came to a dramatic end after 91 days. In a two-hour live finale featuring performances by Jamaican superstars Brick and Lace, the 21-year-old from Luanda scooped the big prize, walking off with a hefty USD 100 000!
Ricco overcame Malawi’s Hazel Warren after the two were tied on votes based on the votes cast by number of participating countries and the rest of Africa. This meant that the tie had to be broken based on the number of votes accumulated by both housemates. Three housemates remained in the house until Sunday and they were Hazel, Ricco and Zimbabwe’s Munyaradzi Chidzonga. However Munya was the 10th housemate to be evicted leaving two housemates to compete for the grand prize. » Read more…
A Voyeur Africa: The Return of Big Brother
The most intrusive reality TV series in the world, Big Brother makes a glorious return to Africa. As the world said goodbye to the Olympic Games on Sunday August 24, Africa said hello to season 3 of Big Brother Africa (BBA3). For the next 96 days, viewers across Africa will intrude into the lives of 12 housemates selected from 12 African countries on DSTV.
For a reward of 100,000 US dollars, these 12 housemates will plot and scheme as well as let themselves loose under the watchful eyes of millions of viewers. Everyone’s favourite ‘shower hour’ will certainly have people up early and staying glued to their TV sets. The often steamy session of BBA has gradually created a voyeur continent out of Africa and in fact many people criticised Big Brother Nigeria for not showing housemates taking their shower.
