In the spirit of the new year and all that it brings with it, I couldn’t think of any better way to kick start the year than in high and positive spirit. I pray for balance, love and wisdom as you all grow-forward in life, and thank you for being part of the Jamati family as we continue to strive to raise the African flag up high.
Now in the spirit of the new beginnings, with courtesy of Banky W’s new single titled “Lagos Party“, featuring Naeto C, Eldee, Dbanj, 9ice and Muna, I urge every one to de-stress themselves from all life’s drama and use the music to let yourselves go and be free.

Okyeame Kwame, Praye and Others shine at 10th Ghana Music Awards
After endless speculations, criticisms, and a long wait, the 10th edition of the annual Ghana Music Awards was finally held last Saturday at the Dome of the Accra Conference Center to a sold-out audience. The biggest ceremony saw Okyeame Kwame winning the Artiste of the Year. Although the 2008 was described as the most competitive year for the Ghana Music Awards, favorites Okyeame Kwame, Praye and Christiana Love came up tops on the night filled with excitement, cheers and some few surprises.
Kate Menson, a new Face of Africa
The striking 23-year-old was discovered in the Accra casting earlier in the year. Her progress throughout this year’s season of M-Net’s Face of Africa has been a constant inspiration to viewers, who discovered earlier in the month that although Kate had auditioned for the search in 2006, she hadn’t qualified at the time because she needed to hone her talent and work on developing her physique.
D’Banj Rules the MAMAs in Abuja
As expected, the maiden edition of the MTV Africa Music Awards with Zain (MAMA) exploded live on Saturday 22 November 2008 at The Velodrome in Abuja, Nigeria. The ‘Koko Master’ D’banj was the biggest winner of the night with three MAMA ‘Golden Microphones’ for Best Male, Artist of the Year, and Listener’s Choice. Kenya’s most sought after female artist, Wahu, took home Best Female. Best Video went to Ikechukwu from Nigeria for his video – ‘Wind Am Well’, while Alicia Keys won the honors in Best R&B.
The ROAD TO MAMA Leads to Lagos with performances from THE GAME’, D’BANJ, 9ICE, SAMINI & NAETO C
The excitement continues to build on the Road to the MTV Africa Music Awards with Zain (MAMA). Last week The Game and a line-up of MAMA nominees gave performances that had fans going crazy in Kinshaha. After hours spent just trying to get clearance from customs to enter the city, I’m told that The Game gave it everything he had and the crowed went wild shouting, “The Game, The Game, we love The Game”.
ZAIN, MTV Bring a Taste Of Miami To Nigeria
Flo Rida will perform for the first time in Africa at the MTV Africa Music Awards with Zain (MAMA) as MTV salutes the power of US and African hip hop. Joining the whirlwind Miami MC performing at the event will be MAMA award nominees 9ice (Best Hip Hop, Best New Act nominee), Naeto C (Best New Act nominee), Ikechukwu (Best Video nominee) and Jua Cali (Best Male nominee). I have goose bumps up and down me right now, and tears in my eyes. The idea that artists in Africa will finally receive their just do’s, sharing a stage with Flo Rida, The Game, Kelly Rowland – this is what its all about for me. Amen (and its about time)! Thank you to Zain and MTV for making this happen.
