Yes, the honeymoon is over at the Project Fame West Africa academy and this weekend, we will say bye-bye to the first evictee from the show. Although none of the 15 contestants have stood out for me so far, some did a little bit better than others. At the moment I must say that the task is easy for the judges who put Betty, Brenda, Ijeoma and Sopriye on probation last week.

Ghanaians Bid Farewell to an Entertainment Icon

Scores of friends, fans and family of the late Kwame Owusu Ansah said their final farewells to the entertainment impresario over the weekend. The popular Ghanaian actor, who died at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital after his involvement in a motor accident on May 1, was buried at the Osu Cemetery after a burial service was held for him at the Holy Spirit Cathedral on Saturday, June 14.

4th Annual Women of Color Arts & Film Festival (WOCAF)

Iyàlódè Productions will be hosting its 4th annual Women of Color Arts & Film (WOCAF) Festival, which runs from March 20th- March 22nd, 2008. The festival is dedicating a segment to celebrate the Nigerian film industry, popularly known as “Nollywood”. The festival segment, titled “Nollywood Nights: A celebration of Nigerian Cinema” will highlight several Nigerian films, including The Amazing Grace, the first Nigerian/Nollywood film to be distributed widely throughout North America. The film is based on the true story of captured slaves form the Calabar region of Nigeria who inspired the song Amazing Grace.

The feature film, The Narrow Path, by celebrated Nigerian director Tunde Kelani will also be screened. The film centers on village life and the courage of women. Other films to be screened include Catch Them Young by Awoba Bob Manuel, Ìràpadà (Redemption) by Kunle Afolayan and Osanle by Abimbola Ogunsanya.

Nollywood is the 3rd largest producer of films after Hollywood and Bollywood,

Founded in 2005, WOCAF is dedicated to promoting cultural, political and social issues about and/or related to women of color. The Film Festival segment of WOCAF will be held at 101 Auburn Avenue, Atlanta, GA 30303.
