Osi is Back!!

New York Giants fans must have breathed a huge sigh of relief when Osi Umenyiora ran onto the field.  Even his teammates were happy.  Justin Tuck commented to the New  York Daily News that having Osi back was like getting a number one draft pick, but better.

Well, looks like Wale was partying and performing at the same party as L’il Kim while Tunde Adebimpe was performing at Central Park Summerstage in New York.

Of course we have to mention Estelle who was spotted at the Oceana, Nautica & Vanity Fair Celebrate World Oceans Day. She was also spotted at the National Best Friends day hosted by BFF Entertainment at Times Square Alliance Building in New York City, and at the HOT 97 Summer Jam.  Angel Melaku a.k.a. Lola Luv was also in attendance at the Summer Jam.

Celebrity Sightings

There are many celebrities that have shown up at the Tribeca Film Festival to celebrate film.  Others were busy entertaining in their different fields, around the world.

Seal brought the house down at Radio City Music Hall in his inimitable style.  Suzanne ‘Africa’ Engo took some time out to catch a movie screening, while Mel B. lent her celebrity status to the Invisible Children organization to draw attention to the abduction of children in Uganda to force into the army. Charlize Theron was at the 36th Film Society Of Lincoln Center’s Gala Tribute honoring Tom Hanks.

Weekend Buzz

Estelle is back!  She is busy running around attending events around the country.  I don’t know anyone who works as hard as she does.

Idris Elba is having a stellar year already.  His new movie ‘Obsessed‘, filmed with Beyonce Knowles, was the highest grossing film taking in $28.5 million in ticket sales for Sony Corporation.  It beat ‘Mean Girls‘ for the for the best last-April-weekend opening ever.  He was also sighted at a pre-draft party with Osi Umenyiora and Michael Strahan, and at the British Academy Television Awards.

Amobi Okoye gives back to Africa

NFL Player, Amobi Okoye, started a project with other athletes called the Athletes in the Diaspora Community Interventions (ADCI) which provides humanitarian support for change on the African continent.

Amobi OkoyeFor one of the projects he established, Changing Africa Through Education (CATE), Amobi traveled to Nigeria with several other professional athletes (Adewale Ogunleye, Osi Umenyiora, Israel Idonije, and Ahman Green) to work on programs that included scholarship endowments, soccer camps, clean water programs and, and held five mobile clinics for over 1,000 residents. In addition, medicine was distributed in partnership with physicians from Integris Health of Oklahoma. Other athletes who donated but were unable to make the trip include Nnamdi Asomuga (Oakland Raiders), Kabeer Gbaja-Biamila (Green Bay Packers), Akbar Gbaja-Biamila (Miami Dolphins), and Adimchinobe Echemandu (Oakland Raiders).

Superbowl Weekend…and Other Events

Where do the football players go when their teams are not in the Superbowl?  They are usually spotted at some of the hottest events and parties around.  Or they are hanging around the Superbowl pre-game activities cheering their friends and their teams on.

Praying for a Superbowl Ring

Chike Okeafor is a member of the Arizona Cardinals and will be doing his part to help them win Superbowl XLIII and get the coveted Superbowl ring.  Last year the Giants won the Superbowl, allowing Osi Umenyiora and Gibril Wilson to walk away with their Superbowl rings.
