Oumou Sangare’s to release new album, ‘Seya’
Oumou Sangare, that great Malian singer, is scheduled to release her long awaited album, ‘Seya‘, on June 9 2009. An extremely popular musician in Mali and the Diaspora, Sangare is arguably Mali’s most recognized musician, second only, perhaps to Salif Keita. Alicia Keys said, “Her voice is captivating; even though I can’t understand what she is saying, I understand what she’s saying.”
Bela Fleck asks you to ‘Throw Down your Heart’
Bela Fleck travels through Uganda, Tanzania, The Gambia, and Mali to explore the little known African roots of the banjo and record an album. It celebrates the beauty and complexity of Africa and showcases the side that doesn’t ahave to do with war, disease, or poverty.
