Africa’s Best compete for 2012 MOBO Awards
Some of Africa’s finest artistes such as Sarkodie, Amadou & Mariam , Cabo Snoop ,Camp Mulla, D’Banj , Fally Ipupa, Fatoumata Diawara, P-Square , Spoek Mathambo, and The Very Best have been nominated for Best African Act in the 17th edition of the Music of Black Origin (MOBO) Awards slated for Saturday, 3rd November at the Echo Arena in Liverpool.
Ice Prince set to perform in Blantyre, Malawi
Panshak Zamani, better known as Ice Prince, will be performing in Blantyre, Malawi this coming weekend courtesy of Black Rhino Entertainment. Ice Prince, one of Nigeria’s prominent hiphop artists, was the winner of Hennessy Artistry 2009. He is signed to Chocolate City music label.

The acclaimed, award-winning broadway musical, FELA! is in town! This is an opportunity to watch the musical that takes you through the life and music of Fela Kuti, the acclaimed Nigerian musician whose music spoke to social change and against injustice in Nigeria. This musical was nominated for 11 Tony awards including ‘Best Musical’ and promises to be a treat to watch. The show will be in D.C. from September 13 through October 9, 2011.
Best of African stars storm Nairobi for AMAA nominations night
Nairobi will dazzle with stars, glitz and glam from February 25-26, as the biggest stars and practitioners in the African movie industry storm Kenya for this year edition of Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA) nominations party. Practitioners from all the participating countries of the awards scheme are expected to converge on the East Africa nation for the announcement who gets nominated for what. 
The event which will take place on Friday Night at the Laico Regency Hotel will be attended by Joke Silva and her husband Olu Jacobs alongside Rita Dominic, Mercy Johnson, Ini Edo, Mike Monsuruye, Jackie Appiah, Lynda Forson, Kate Henshaw Nuttal and Mike Ezeronye among others who have signified their intention to attend the event.

2010 MTV Africa Music Awards with Zain (MAMA). Nigerian artists scored an impressive 13 nominations including three nominations for duo P-Square (Artist of the Year, Best Group and Best Video), and two nominations each for MAMA 2009 winner 2FACE (Best Male, Artist of the Year), Wande Coal (Best Anglophone, Best Male) and Banky W (Song of the Year, Best Video).

Rumour has it that, One 8, a new music supergroup comprising some of the biggest stars from across Africa is in the making. The group would put together hit songs, music videos, and an album for a music campaign in Africa. Already three of the continent’s hottest artists have been announced to be part of the group, namely Navio (Uganda), Alikiba (Tanzania) and JK (Zambia).
