There’s this old adage amongst African footballers that “The player makes the boot, the boot never makes the player.” We learned this early on as most of us played with our bare feet in the streets or on rocky hard surfaces. Presently, in this age of globalization and marketing, most African players want shoes similar to Samuel Eto’o’s Pumas or John Obi Mikel’s Nikes. The color of a footballer’s boots supposedly reveal what type of player he is according to a leading British sports psychologist.
