The MTV Africa Music Awards (MAMA) is fast gaining a reputation for assembling the hottest talents from Africa and the rest of the world in Africa. The 2010 MAMAs certainly set the notch higher when it opened with an explosive performance by Hip Hop ‘heavyweight’, Rick Ross, and closed with an unforgettable rendition of “Win” featuring T-Pain, Rick Ross, Da LES and 2Face – a world first.
Akon breaks music boundaries yet again
This should come as no surprise to all the Akon fans who have seen him break musical and racial boundaries over and over again. He has collaborated with different artists or was featured on songs some critics never thought he could pull off because of his distinctive voice.

Akon Puts New Kids On the Block on “The Block”
The New Kids on the Block are back with a new album and Akon’s collaboration with them, ‘Put It On My Tab‘ is already being heralded as a smash hit-in-waiting. The song is very T-Pain in style and shows the smart choices the New Kids on the Block made in collaborating with some of the hottest names in music to create a comeback album.
The New Kids on the Block have definitely grown up. Their album is edgy, features Ne-Yo, Akon, Timbaland, the Pussycat Dolls, and Teddy Riley, to name a few. Not bad. ‘Single‘ is a collaboration with Ne-Yo, and showcases their vocal talent. ‘Grown Man‘ is a pretty hot dance piece in collaboration with Teddy Riley and the Pussycat Dolls. We want T-Pain!
T-Pain had a very good run last year so his topping the list of BET Award nominations is very much in the right direction. While the “Buy U a Drink” superstar celebrates his 5 nods in the upcoming event and his almost certain win of at least one statuette, for many of his fans in Ghana, visiting the land of gold would be the perfect end to an incredibly successful year.
