Weekend Buzz
Busy, busy, busy, is what this weekend has been. There were several artists in Africa lending their name to concerts and award shows. Eve and Wyclef were in Ghana, as was Mario.
Liya Kebede showed up at two benefits for a good cause. Edi Gathegi is riding high on the excitement that his new movie, “Twilight‘, is generating. He was also at the GQ ‘Men of the Year’ party. Flo Rida was in Abuja, Nigeria for the MTV Africa Music Awards. Several celebrities received their awards or performed, including, Wahu, Alicia Keys, D’Banj, Seun Kuti, Kelly Rowland, The Game, and Jay-Jay Okocha.
The Game had Kenyan’s waving their hands Saturday night
The Game performed to full house Saturday night. Concert goers were up on the dance floor, waving their hands, and singing along to hit after hit.
The Compton rapper — born Jayceon Taylor — gave a stellar performance at the Bomas of Kenya, Nairobi on Saturday night. Let me just put it out there to you, I didn’t know what to expect. I walked away impressed.

The road to MAMA countdown SA concert raises the bar!
The MTV African Music Awards is indeed one of the most anticipated event awaited to take place this year and with only a few days until faith is revealed, the MAMA concert in South Africa definitely raised the bar, leaving fans with even more anticipation for the main event.
ZAIN, MTV Bring a Taste Of Miami To Nigeria
Flo Rida will perform for the first time in Africa at the MTV Africa Music Awards with Zain (MAMA) as MTV salutes the power of US and African hip hop. Joining the whirlwind Miami MC performing at the event will be MAMA award nominees 9ice (Best Hip Hop, Best New Act nominee), Naeto C (Best New Act nominee), Ikechukwu (Best Video nominee) and Jua Cali (Best Male nominee). I have goose bumps up and down me right now, and tears in my eyes. The idea that artists in Africa will finally receive their just do’s, sharing a stage with Flo Rida, The Game, Kelly Rowland – this is what its all about for me. Amen (and its about time)! Thank you to Zain and MTV for making this happen.
Kelly Rowland Joins list of performers for MAMA
Things are heating up ahead of the first-ever MTV Africa Music Awards (MAMA) as more artists sign onto the bill of performers. Charismatic R&B star Kelly Rowland will be jetting into Abuja, Nigeria on 22 November to perform on stage at The Velodrome, Abuja alongside South African rockers, Cassette, and Nigerian soul diva, Asa.

The Game to headline the MAMAs
Its official! Multi-platinum US rapper, The Game is to headline the debut edition of the MTV Africa Music Awards with Zain (MAMA) on 22 November 2008. The West Coast rapper, who is also nominated in the Best Hip Hop category at the awards, will perform live in Nigeria for the first time, joining Nigeria’s D’Banj, Tanzanian hip hop sensation Professor Jay, and Ghanaian hip life star, Kwaw Kese, on stage at The Velodrome, Abuja for Africa’s most spectacular celebration of contemporary music.
Born Jayceon Terrell Taylor, The Game is one of hip hop’s most successful artists with two #1 US albums under his belt including 2005 debut major-label album The Documentary. Featuring a star-studded lineup including Mary J. Blige, Busta Rhymes, Dr. Dre, Eminem, 50 Cent and Kanye West, the album received instant critical acclaim, and attracted a Grammy nomination for The Game for smash hit single release Hate It or Love It.

Road to the MAMAs
With four weeks to go until the MTV Africa Music Awards (MAMA) with Zain, MTV is kick-starting the celebrations with THE ROAD TO MAMA – an out-of-this-world, all-star concert tour visiting the DRC, South Africa, Kenya and Nigeria in the run-up to the Awards.
Spotlighting artists nominated in the inaugural MTV Africa Music Awards with Zain on 22 November 2008, the Road to MAMA concerts will boast a lineup of the hottest African and international musicians, with all four concerts fronted by Best Hip Hop nominee and US rap legend, The Game.
