Gaetano Kagwa weds his sweetheart

Gaetano Kagwa first came into the limelight when caused a stir across Africa with his sexual shenanigan with fellow housemate Abigail (South Africa) in the maiden edition of the Big Brother Africa reality TV series. As much as the viewers despised this onscreen romance, many were interested to see how it would play out once they were both out of the big brother house. Well, nothing came out of it in the end and Gaetano, who shot into overnight stardom in his home-country, Uganda has found love in that country and gotten hitched.

Gaetano Kagwa and EnidThe Studio 53 host recently married the love of his life, Enid, in a low key ceremony on a ranch near Lake Victoria. The wedding was a very traditional affair, with lots of black and white in evidence; a colour scheme seen not only in the décor in the wedding marquee and the jewelery of the guests, but also representing the core of the culture and the family’s deep time-honoured attachment to their history. The two families took part in the elaborate and engaging ritual, called “Kwanjula”, which basically meant that the bride-to-be had to introduce her future husband and all the people escorting him to her family.

‘Big Brother Africa: The Revolution’, Coming Soon

Dubai Sevens Rugby World Cup

Kenya, Tunisia, Zimbabwe, and South Africa,  will each have a team at the Dubai Sevens Rugby World Cup scheduled for March 2009 in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.  Kenya, Tunisia and Zimbabwe were Africa qualifiers and South Africa was an automatic qualifier. Zimbabwe beat Namibia 29-10 and Kenya beat Tunisia 22-12 in the semi finals. Kenya beat Zimbabwe 26-14 to qualify for the Rugby World Cup.  Tunisia beat Namibia, 26-12 for the final spot at the Rugby World Cup.

Tusker Win Cecafa Club Cup

Kenyan side, Tusker, came from behind to beat URA of Uganda 2-1 to win the East and Central Africa (Cecafa) Club Championship in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania on Sunday. Ismail Kigozi put URA in the lead after 25 minutes and they managed to protect their advantage until half-time.

Africas Premier Rugby tournament: The Tusker Safari Sevens

Africa’s Premier Rugby tournament, the Tusker Safari Sevens, comes alive this weekend again in Nairobi Kenya. The event, in its 13th year of existence, sees 16 top class teams chase for honors once again. This years tournament is in itself a milestone as rugby 7’s powerhouses step into Nairobi for the first time ever to take part in this tournament. One can remember that 3 years ago Fijian rugby great, Waisale Serevi, graced the tournament where he played for Kenya Shujaa as a guest player. France and Japan will be making their second appearance in Kenya and going nothing short of victory. (The last time the French were here, they almost never left F2. This time they aim to succeed!)
