Mandela looses great-granddaughter in car crash
Nelson Mandela lost his 13-year-old great-granddaughter in a car accident early Friday. Zenani Mandela was returning home from the opening day festivities of the 2010 World Cup when she was involved in a one-car accident that killed her.

Ethiopia Expelled From World Cup
FIFA has announced Ethiopia’s Ethiopia’s expulsion from the qualifying campaign for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa. The decision was taken by the Bureau of the Organzing Committee for the FIFA World Cup, and the results from all four matches played by Ethiopia to date in Group Eight are now cancelled.
The Emergency Committee of football’s world governing body had initially suspended the Ethiopia Football Federation (EFF) on July 29 earlier this year. The EFF’s problems began in January when its general assembly fired the federation’s president, Dr. Ashebir Woldegiorgis, and elected Ahmed Yasin to replace him. However, that January meeting was not recognized by FIFA, who, together with Confederation of African Football (CAF), released a roadmap in February aimed at rectifying the situation. The EFF had agreed to implement the roadmap, but failed to put it into action and was suspended six weeks ago as a result.

FIFA Considering Alternative WC 2010 Host
FIFA president, Sepp Blatter, claims he has spoken to three countries about hosting the 2010 World Cup if a natural disaster forces it away from South Africa. This is part of “Plan B” drawn up by FIFA with less than two years until the pinnacle of world sport heads to Africa for the first time.
