CAF names Africa’s finest 11

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has named its top 11 players in Africa. Boasting of some of the finest footballers in the world, this list certainly would send shivers down the spine of any football team in the world. Its truly unfortunate that we cannot have such a strong team to represent us in the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.

Gold Boots

There’s this old adage amongst African footballers that “The player makes the boot, the boot never makes the player.” We learned this early on as most of us played with our bare feet in the streets or on rocky hard surfaces. Presently, in this age of globalization and marketing, most African players want shoes similar to Samuel Eto’o's Pumas or John Obi Mikel’s Nikes. The color of a footballer’s boots supposedly reveal what type of player he is according to a leading British sports psychologist. Dr Martin Perry and football boot website www.Footy-Boots.com have joined forces to classify footballers according to their choice of footwear. Though Barcelona’s workaholic pair of Seydou Keita and Yaya Toure both wear white boots, they are definitely not the flashiest of players. Hopefully you find the guide below somewhat interesting, and we at least have another explanation for El Hadji Diouf’s petulance over the years – his awful looking orange boots. Dr Martin Perry and Footy Boots have joined forces to classify footballers according to their choice of footwear.
